Grove is a calm writing app for novelists. Plan, write, edit and export in one place, with your whole storyworld right beside the page.

Most writing apps stop when the draft is done. Grove stays with you through the outline, the draft, your editor's notes and the finished file.

Characters, places, creatures, lore, and the languages you invented. One world can be shared by every book in a series.

Hover over a highlighted word. From the sample story, Welcome to the Grove.
Every character, place and rule of magic gets its own page and tags, and stays one keystroke away while you write.
Write each word down once, with its meaning. Forgot the word? Type what it means and Grove finds it.
Names and invented words are recognised, not underlined in red. The words in your world are the words Grove accepts.
Outline first, or start straight in on chapter one. The board is there when you want it and stays out of the way when you don't.
Already halfway through a manuscript? Bring it into Grove and carry on where you stopped.
Set a word goal and a deadline, and Grove tells you what that means per day. Days spent planning count as work too, not just the days you add words.
I got fed up with writing my novels across different tools: one for ideas, one for the outline, one for the writing, another for editing.
So I built the app I wanted. One place for the whole book, with an interface simple enough to disappear while I write, and capable and flexible enough to keep up when the book gets big. No more subscriptions, and no more cloud.
I'm finishing my third novel in it now. Before it goes out into the world, I'm looking for a few writers to try it and tell me honestly what works and what doesn't.
